Fractional Laser
Fractional laser skin resurfacing is our most anti-aging laser procedure. Not only can it rejuvenate the skin to give a smoother, more youthful and glowing appearance, it can also improve the appearance of scars, stretch marks, fine lines and wrinkles.
How does fractional skin resurfacing work?
Minute sections of the skin are targeted with laser light, which penetrates into the tissue, causing small columns of thermal damage which in turn stimulates significant collagen renewal. The surrounding non-affected areas of skin aid the body’s natural recovery process, allowing dramatic results without significant recovery time. As the new collagen filled cells replace the old tissue the skin has an even tone, becomes plumper, smoother and less lined.

Am I suitable for treatment?
Treatment is suitable for most people and highly recommended for clients wanting a brighter, more even skin tone with smoother skin texture and improved skin elasticity. It is also suitable for clients wishing to reduce wrinkles, pore size, stretch marks and improve scar tissue (including acne scars).

How is the treatment carried out?
The skin is cleansed and the hand piece is moved over the skin which delivers microscopic laser beams. Protective eyewear must be worn during treatment and the skin will be cooled for some time after the session.

How long does each treatment take?
Typical treatment times vary depending on the skin condition and the area being treated, but usually treatments can take between 10 - 45 minutes.

How does the treatment feel?
A warm heating sensation is felt during treatment with some mild stinging. After treatment the skin can become quite hot so cooling packs are used to minimise discomfort.

What should I expect after the treatment?
You will experience a mild sunburnt sensation for a few hours after treatment and the skin may be red for 1 – 2 days. This is a normal sign that the skin is healing at a deep level. Swelling is likely but minimal, and resolves in 2 – 3 days. As the healing process occurs, your skin may have a ‘bronzed’ appearance that lasts from 3 – 10 days, depending on the treatment level. Your skin will naturally exfoliate and may flake as if you had mild sunburn.

Are there any side effects?
Skin redness, swelling and the ‘bronzing’ appearance are all expected outcomes of treatment. Other unwanted reactions are rare but can include a small blister or temporary lightening or darkening of the skin.
How many treatments are necessary?
Improvement is evident after the first session, but for optimum results, 3 – 5 treatment sessions are often advised. Treatments are carried out every 2 – 6 weeks depending on the level or rejuvenation required.

Consultation Procedure
Prior to treatment, a consultation is conducted in which a medical history is taken to confirm suitability for treatment. This is also a good opportunity for you to ask any questions you may have. Before treatment commences you must provide written consent and a small test patch will be carried out.
